Pikelet + The Crisps + Red Bulldozers @ the Enterprise

One of the new wave of indiepop acts coming out of Melbourne, Pikelet is Evelyn Morris. Also known for playing drums in various loud and hard-edged bands (including Baseball), this project shows her softer side. Using an accordion, a guitar, a loop pedal and various percussion, Pikelet crafts lush, intricate harmonies and melodies of gentle beauty. Both Pikelet's debut album (available from Chapter Music, or at the gig) and her gigs have received glowing reviews from the press in Australia; this is the first Pikelet gig in the UK.

Additional resources:

Supports include East London folk-pop combo The Crisps and local jangle-pop singer-songwriter Red Bulldozers.

Misty Roses + Hong Kong In The 60s + Sunny Intervals

Electronic lounge-pop combo MISTY ROSES (NYC/London) play an intimate set including new material. Supports are London's own HONG KONG IN THE 60S and SUNNY INTERVALS (a.k.a. Andy from Pocketbooks), with DJ sets by Emma from Pocketbooks and Pop, Look & Listen DJs.

MISTY ROSES are the trans-Atlantic duo of London-based DJ and multi-instrumentalist Jonny Perl and New York songwriter/vocalist Robert Conroy (think Scott Walker meets Marc Almond). Brought together by a love of "glamorous easy-listening music" from decades past, their sound combines classic genres (1960s film scores, bossa nova, chanson) with influences from new wave, trip-hop and electronica and a hint of something sinister.

London's own HONG KONG IN THE 60s, who take their cue from old Oriental pop, classic AM radio and the baroque melancholy of groups like Blonde Redhead, Broadcast and the High Llamas. The band play hypnotic lullabies through a filter of cheap keyboards and guitars.

SUNNY INTERVALS is the new solo project from Andy from Pocketbooks, whom you may have heard on The Kids At The Club and/or seen at Indie Tracks. Sunny Intervals flutters between sparkling indiepop sugar rushes and haunting piano laments, combining delicate pop melodies, rolling pianos, chiming guitars and lo-fi Casio beats, and already has one EP out on WeePOP!.
